SUMMARY:Aurinko Ballet: Nutcracker
DESCRIPTION:Get Tickets\n \n Get Nutcracker Tea Party Tickets\n \n \n \n \n \n A family friendly performance for all ages. Our version of the Nutcracker does not use the traditional Tchaikovsky score\, yet the storylines are similar. In our story\, Klara is a homeless girl living in today’s busy world with the hustle and bustle of people preparing for the holiday season. Klara is offered a gift of a broken Nutcracker doll found in the trash by another homeless person\, Herr Drosselmeyer. Drosselmeyer casts a magic spell where Klara dreams of a Mouse Queen who battles with the Nutcracker. The Nutcracker transforms into a prince and takes Klara to visit the Sugar Plum Fairy and her kingdom. Along the way there are dancing snowflakes\, graceful fairies\, and waltzing flowers. The kingdom celebrates Klara’s visit with costumes and dances from around the world. There are dances from China\, Spain\, India and more! The Sugar Plum Fairy dances as well. Through the magical courage that Drosselmeyer gave her\, Klara discovers that even a small kindness can make a difference. Klara finds her family with the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Prince. In the end\, Klara teaches us that all people are special\, no matter if they seem different or unimportant. Join us with a new tradition to celebrate the holiday season! \n \n Get Tickets\n \n Get Nutcracker Tea Party Tickets

SUMMARY:Songwriter's Spotlight: Nashville Unplugged
DESCRIPTION:Get Tickets\n \n \n \n \n \n Step inside the stories behind country music’s biggest hits at a close-up evening in the Crystal Ballroom\, presented in partnership with Friends of The Lerner. This special event features three of Nashville’s most acclaimed songwriters—Kelly Archer\, whose chart-topping hits have been recorded by Carrie Underwood\, Jason Aldean\, and Cody Johnson; Gordie Sampson\, Grammy-winning writer of “Jesus\, Take The Wheel” and a creative force behind countless country favorites; and Lee Thomas Miller\, a three-time Grammy nominee with #1 songs for Brad Paisley\, Trace Adkins\, Tim McGraw\, and more. Together\, they will share the music\, stories\, and inspirations that shaped today’s country classics. \n \n \n \n \n \n Kelly Archer:  \nhttps://www.redcreativegroup.com/kellyarcher. \nOriginally from Vancouver\, B.C.\, Kelly has been a signed writer in Nashville for the past 20+ years and her songs have been recorded by Jason Aldean\, Reba\, Brett Young\, Trisha Yearwood\, Eli Young Band\, Bailey Zimmerman\, Dustin Lynch\, Corey Kent\, Cody Johnson\, Carrie Underwood\, Justin Moore and many more. Kelly has had several songs placed in the series “Nashville” as well as success in her native land of Canada. In the past few years\, Kelly has celebrated 5 #1 songs with Brett Young’s “Sleep Without You\,” Justin Moore’s “Somebody Else Will”\, Travis Denning’s “After A Few” and Corey Kent’s “Wild As Her”. Most recently Kelly celebrated a two week #1 with her song “I’m gonna love you” recorded by Cody Johnson ft. Carrie Underwood. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Gordie Sampson \nhttps://gordiesampson.com/. \nA brilliant writer\, an innovative producer\, a dynamic on-stage presence\, and a mentor to emerging writers\, Gordie’s musical genius and generosity is applauded by audiences and industry players alike. \nRaised in the community of Big Pond (pop. 47)\, near the rugged\, edge-of-the-world coastlines of Cape Breton\, Nova Scotia\, Sampson’s songwriting has taken him across the globe. But besides the island he hails from\, there might be no place in his story more important than Nashville\, Tennessee\, where he lives now with his family. He moved to Music City in 2005\, and in less than a year Carrie Underwood had recorded his own “Jesus\, Take The Wheel\,” which wound up at number one on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for six weeks in a row and earned Gordie a Grammy for Best Country Song of the Year. Since then\, Sampson’s songs have been cut by a long list of established artists that includes Florida Georgia Line\, Luke Bryan\, Rascal Flatts\, Dan + Shay\, Hunter Hayes and Caitlyn Smith and by young up-and-comers like Carly Pearce\, Caylee Hammack and Tenille Townes. \nIt was a winding road to get here. He tore up the stage in high school and afterwards with his early bands\, did time playing and producing for fiddlin’ phenom Ashley MacIsaac\, toured with The Rankin Family\, and was part of Canadian folk music icon Rita MacNeil’s group on her weekly CBC show Rita and Friends. Sampson’s straight-to-the-heart tunes benefit from the weight of his expressive voice on his own records\, – his 1999 album Stones garnered a Juno Award nomination for Best Roots & Traditional Album and he has won numerous East Coast Music Awards. Although he doesn’t often take on outside projects\, he has appeared as a producer for records by The East Pointers and Port Cities. \nGordie heads back home to Canada every summer to spend time with family and friends in his beloved Cape Breton and to perform in the Maritimes\, where enthusiastic audiences welcome him\, year after year.  From 2010-2019 he ran The Gordie Sampson Songcamp\, a retreat that gives young songwriters the opportunity to develop their skills and build relationships with their peers\, and promotes learning in pursuit of artistic excellence. Numerous Songcampers\, including Mo Kenney\, the members of roots/pop group Port Cities\, Dave Sampson and Kyle Mischiek (Sunsetto)  have gone on to build their own successful musical careers. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Lee Thomas Miller:  \nhttp://www.leethomasmiller.com. \nHometown: Nicholasville\, KentuckyBachelor degree in Music Theory/Composition(Eastern Kentucky University 1990) \nFORMER PRESIDENT OF THE NASHVILLE SONGWRITER’S ASSOCIATION (NSAI) \n3 Time Grammy Award Nominee:2003 Grammy nomination :“The Impossible” (Joe Nichols) Country Song of the Year:2009 Double Grammy nomination :“You’re Gonna Miss This”(Trace Adkins)-  Country Song of the Year“In Color” (Jamey Johnson)- Country Song of the Year \nMusic Row Magazine: Breakthrough Songwriter of the year 2003 \nAwarded one of NSAI’s  ‘Ten Songs I Wish I Had Written’ 2003: “The Impossible” \nAwarded one of NSAI’s  ‘Ten Songs I Wish I Had Written’ 2008: “You’re Gonna Miss This” \nWon Song of the Year at the 2008 NSAI awards for “You’re Gonna Miss This” \nNominated for Song of the Year at 2008 CMA awards for “You’re Gonna Miss This” \n2009 Double ACM Nominee: “You’re Gonna Miss This” and “In Color” for Song of the Year \nWon Song of the Year at the 2009 ACM awards for “In Color” \nWon Music Row Magazine’s 2009 Song of the Year  for  “In Color” \nAwarded one of NSAI’s  ‘Ten Songs I Wish I Had Written’ 2009: “In Color” \nWon Song of the Year at the 2009 CMA awards for “In Color” \nAwarded BMI’s inaugural “Champion’s Award” 2015 \nNominated for Song of the Year at the 2018 ACM awards for “Whiskey and You” \n#1 Country Singles:  “The Impossible”  (Joe Nichols)**                       “I Just Wanna Be Mad”  (Terri Clark)**                       “The World”   (Brad Paisley)**                       “You’re Gonna Miss This”  (Trace Adkins)*                       “I’m Still A Guy”  (Brad Paisley)                         “Southern Girl”  (Tim McGraw)                           “Perfect Storm” (Brad Paisley) \n(*received BMI Million Play Award)(**received BMI 2 Million Play Award) \n·Other top 10 singles:“It Matters To Her” (Scotty McCreery) #2“It Aint My Fault” (Brothers Osborne) #9“Crushin’ It” (Brad Paisley) #7“In Color”  (Jamey Johnson) #7“Nothing To Die For” (Tim McGraw)  #5“Jesus In Disguise” (Brandon Heath)  #8“Just A Girl” (Brandon Heath) #8 \n·      Other top 20 singles: “Without A Fight” (Brad Paisley/Demi Lovato) #14“People Loving People” (Garth Brooks) #19“Something To Do With My Hands” (Thomas Rhett) #15“Crying On A Suitcase” (Casey James) #14“Leaving Eden” (Brandon Heath) #17“Thought About You” (Tim McGraw) #1 \nCuts include: Jason Aldean\, Tim McGraw\, Chris Stapleton\, Rascal Flatts\, George Strait\, Jamey Johnson\, Trace Adkins\, Garth Brooks\, Dierks Bentley\, Brad Paisley\, Brothers Osborne\, Thomas Rhett\, Joe Nichols\, Josh Turner\, Terri Clark\, John Michael Montgomery\, Montgomery Gentry\, Sammy Kershaw\, Andy Griggs\, Tracy Byrd\, Tracy Lawrence\, Randy Travis\, Billy Currington\, Chris Young\, Rodney Adkins\, Craig Morgan \nProduction credits include  Curb recording artist Steve Holy including the 2006 #1 single: “Brand New Girlfriend” and 2010 top 20 single “Love Don’t Run” \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Get Tickets

For lead singer Mark Wystrach\, bassist/vocalist Cameron Duddy and guitarist/vocalist Jess Carson\, the five-times platinum hit “Drinkin’ Problem” set the stage for their critically acclaimed On The Rocks and No. 1 Billboard Top Country Albums debut Let It Roll to unite classic country fans\, hipsters and media including Entertainment Weekly\, GQ\, The Washington Post\, Vogue\, Esquire\, Variety\, Rolling Stone and NPR. Based in Dripping Springs\, Texas\, the trio of songwriters who developed their sound at Tornillo\, Texas’ storied Sonic Ranch have been building a following that’s sold-out the Houston Rodeo and Livestock Show\, packed a multiple-night stand at Ft. Worth’s iconic Billy Bob’s and re-opened North Hollywood’s legendary Palomino Club for one night only. He’s also garnered attention from Rolling Stone Country\, CMT\, Taste of Country\, Raised Rowdy\, and Sounds Like Nashville among others. \nWith a high energy live show and unique heartland-rock-meets-country sound\, Matt has been asked to open for artists like Travis Tritt\, Chris Young\, Kip Moore\, Granger Smith and dozens of others and had his music placed on Spotify Editorial Playlists like Country Rocks\, New Music Friday Country\, Next From Nashville and Fresh Finds: Country. \nMatt released his debut full length album\, “The Gamble” in 2022. His single “Wrangler” was shared on the official Jeep Instagram and Tik Tok profiles and featured on Shawn Parr’s Across The Country\, a syndicated radio show airing in 54 markets across the United States. His second full length album\, “Low Lights” was released in February 2024. \nWHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYINGAmerican Songwriter’s Jason Scott proclaims: “Jordan carries with him a very similar rock-informed country style ─ almost feeling like Eric Church with an outlaw bravado. ‘Smoke’ is unapologetically radio-ready\, from its infectious hook and polished exterior. And more than anything\, his voice remains tried and true\, unique enough to stand firmly on its own.” \nThe Boot speaks of his style as “a bit of Bruce Springsteen in Jordan’s vaguely raspy vocals…. A heartland rock-influenced bit of nostalgia. \nSounds Like Nashville’s Annie Reuter wrote: “Jordan’s whiskey soaked vocals combined with Brooker’s cosmic lyrical imagery paints the picture of a young couple seeking adventure far away from their hometown. The descriptive verses and warm guitar parts intrigue and as the song picks up the listener is along for the ride thanks to a rollicking beat and arena-ready chorus.” \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Cocktails & Live Music • 7:00 PM\nGuests of this event can come early and enhance your experience with a selection of cocktails and live music in the Lerner Grand Lobby at 7:00 p.m. \nJake Miller and the Midwest Heat\nJake Miller and The Midwest Heat are a dynamic band at the intersection of country\, blues\, and rock ‘n roll. Formed in the heartland of Indiana\, U.S.\, this ensemble brings together the raw energy of classic rock with the storytelling richness of American roots music. The band fluctuates in size depending on the occasion\, but whether performing solo\, as a duo\, trio\, or even up to an eight piece band\, the music and storytelling is the focus. They are celebrated for their high-energy live shows and their ability to seamlessly blend music across decades and genres. Their motto is “A good song is a good song” and don’t limit themselves to any one genre or time period. Their music resonates with audiences through their authentic\, heartfelt delivery and their ability to evoke a wide range of emotions\, from raucous joy to introspective melancholy. \n \n Sponsorship Opportunities Available\n \n Get Tickets

SUMMARY:Dusty Slay: The Neighborhood Guy Tour
DESCRIPTION:Get Tickets\n \n \n \n \n \n You can take the boy out of the trailer park\, but you can’t take the trailer park out of the boy… stand-up comedian Dusty Slay grew up on Lot 8 of a mobile home neighborhood in Opelika\, Alabama\, with a love for both classic country and rock and a career history peppered with jobs like waiting tables and selling pesticides. Now the Alabama native with the “We’re having a Good Time” attitude is hitting cities all across the country playing comedy clubs and selling out theaters filled with fans eager to imitate his signature Wave. \nThe trucker hat\, long hair and mustache\, flannel shirt and oversized glasses aren’t affectations to cultivate a stage persona as the B-side of a 1970s Bob Seger track—it’s just Dusty. As a young boy\, growing up in a trailer park\, Dusty never felt like he was poor. He didn’t even know folks were better off than him until he went to school and was the only kid whose home address said “Lot 8 Moore’s Trailer Park”. In his comedy he reflects\, “We never felt poor\, we just didn’t have everything growing up. Like instead of ice cream\, my mom would just pour milk into a bowl and then she’d call us in the room and say ‘welp\, you’re too late!’” Raised by a single mother with two daughters from a previous marriage\, Dusty’s unique family home was never lacking for warmth or love. His father\, always present in his life from the very beginning\, made sure to show him the simple joys of boyhood adventure. “We never had real pets growing up\, we just had prisoners of nature. A dog would wander up\, we’d chain it to a tree. Now he’s ours.” \nAs he came of age and started joining the workforce\, Dusty had many jobs. He had multiple stints as a dishwasher and waiter at restaurants and food chains like Papa Johns\, Jim Bob’s Chicken Fingers as well as a couple tours with Western Sizzlin’ and the historic Hyman’s Seafood. He spent 8 years as a pesticide salesman selling to hardware chains like Lowes and Home Depot. “A lot of people would come up to me and ask weird questions like\, we want something that’s gonna kill the insects but not harm the environment. I’d say well\, ‘How bout a shoe’. Cause I’m selling pesticides here.” In 2001\, Dusty bought back his childhood home\, the trailer that he grew up in. At this time he made plans to join the army\, but an untimely arrest for marijuana possession disrupted those plans. Later that September terrorists attacked the World Trade Center in New York and months after the country was at war. “Everything happens for a reason” says Dusty. After a few years of improv classes\, in 2008 Dusty was inspired to try his hand at stand-up comedy where he found his true calling. He won the Charleston Comedy Competition and was named Charleston City Paper’s Stand Up Comedian of the year in his then hometown two years in a row. In 2014 he made the move to Nashville and made Comedy a full-time gig touring comedy clubs all across the country. \nThe Nashville scene welcomed Dusty with open arms and at age 36\, Slay became the youngest comedian at the time to ever perform on the legendary Grand Ole Opry stage. To date he’s logged dozens of appearances in front of “his people” on the historic stage in the last few years fully embedding himself in the country music scene and having been asked to host some of the biggest events across the subculture\, including Hangover Fest at the ACMs in Las Vegas in 2022 and CMA Fest’s Forever Country Stage with the likes of Scotty McCreery\, Dustin Lynch\, Lainey Wilson and some of the most iconic names in the genre. \nIt wasn’t long before his comedy caught the attention of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon where he’s since performed 6 unforgettable late-night sets\, firmly establishing himself as a crowd favorite and bona fide star on the silver screen. His breakout performances launched him into the Netflix family featuring as one of six comics in season 3 of The Stand Ups\, highlighting the brightest new comedians at the top of their game in ½-hour stand-up comedy formats. Dusty made his solo Netflix debut January 2024 with his first one-hour special\, WORKIN’ MAN\, celebrating his many years as a “road dog” comic\, and the material he’s honed and crafted\, reflecting on his trailer park upbringing\, the hilarious nuance of hourly shift work and the amusing idiosyncrasies of everyday life. \nWORKIN’ MAN opened to tremendous success on the Netflix platform paving the way for partnerships and collaborations with iconic brands like Cracker Barrel\, Lugz and Field & Stream. Appearances on Hollywood Squares with Drew Barrymore as well as trending podcasts like This Past Weekend with Theo Von and Kill Tony have continue to raise Dusty’s profile from Nashville legend to mainstream comedy hero. In the summer of ’25\, Dusty released his latest Netflix special WET HEAT\, a love letter to the south sharing his experiences traveling the country and getting into mischief in the hot and muggy regions he’s always called home. \nThis event has been designated as a No-Weapons event**with exception for law enforcement \n \n Get Tickets

VIP doors open at 5:30pm\, event begins at 7:30pm.\n \n Get Tickets\n \n \n \n \n \n \nWillie Clayton \nWillie Clayton is a singer-songwriter and producer. Like many other black singer/songwriters\, he began performing gospel music in church settings as a youngster and then moved into the  secular field as a lyricist\, producer\, and singer. An active recording artist since the 1970s\, Clayton’s career has endured almost 40 years and has spanned a repertoire in the styles of  R&B\, soul\, and gospel. Birthed into an era of soul and R&B legends\, a time when music was  pure\, lyrics had meaning\, and artists had pronounceable names\, Willie Clayton is now one of the  few working artists of his contemporaries. Since the 1970’s he’s been crooning with the likes of  Ron Isley\, Bobby Womack\, Sam Cooke and Marvin Gaye\, yet now he stands nearly alone\, facing a new generation. \nBorn in the Deep South (Indianola\, Mississippi) during the days of segregation\, Clayton\, unable  to find proper management or the success he sought moved to Chicago in 1971. Like many  other African American artists in the 1970’s\, the young singer ended up contracted to Hi  Records in Memphis\, where he worked with producer Willie Mitchell and the vaunted Hi rhythm  section. Hi issued a series of fine Clayton efforts on its Pawn subsidiary\, including “I Must Be  Losin’ You\,” “It’s Time You Made Up Your Mind\,” and “Baby You’re Ready\,” but none of them hit.  Finally\, in 1984\, Clayton enjoyed a taste of soul success when his “Tell Me” (produced by  General Crook) and “What a Way to Put It”\, scored on to the R&B charts. Let’s Get Together\,  Clayton’s 1993 album for Johnny Vincent’s Ace record label\, was a smooth soul-blues hybrid  dominated by originals but titled after Al Green’s immortal hit. \nSimply back on the scene after the mainstream success of Clayton’s “Boom Boom Boom and “A Woman Knows”\, which landed on Billboard album and airplay charts. Clayton is prepared to teach a new generation the right way to love. Self classified as an all-encompassing singer\, he refuses to be pigeonholed in one genre of music. “There aren’t many real gritty R&B singers. Bobby Womack\, Charlie Wilson and I are the last of that generation. \nI keep up with the music because I keep changing with the times. Where Levert left off\, I am picking it up\, and like him my music is relatable across the generations.” \nIn 2009 Clayton made what is known as one of the all time fan favorites with the project entitled Love\, Romance and Respect which featured two back to back Top 25 Urban Adult Contemporary Airplay Billboard Singles Charts with “Dance The Nite Away” and “We Both Grown” featuring Dave Hollister.Love\, Romance and Respect is truly a classic R&B album the world over. Working with young musicians and producers\, (none over the age of 30) has allowed Clayton to speak the language of love to modern rhythm and blues. Grateful for the young energy\, the expertise and perspective\, he feels this album is full of timeless music. “It’s not a one single album\, it’s grown and sexy. It’s about bringing romance\, love\, respect and sensuality back in the house.” \nIn 2011 the multi-talented singer\, songwriter\, producer released two separate projects in one physical year. “That’s work”\, said Clayton. The projects included The Voice which featured the hit single “Tonight” and The Tribute: One Man\, One Voice\, which featured the hit single “Be With Me”. Both singles were Top 25 records on the Urban Adult Contemporary airplay chart. Clayton continues to not just release music but quality projects that satisfy his fans and keep him entertaining fans all over the world.  With multiple releases throughout his career\, even in 2012 Clayton is confident in his newest offering to the world\, even reaching generation next\, by building an Internet presence and bridging the generational gap. “Mood music has no age limits\, this album reminds you how good it is to be in love\, or shows you how sweet it can be!” \nConsidered by critics and fans alike to be one of the last great “Soul” men\, Clayton continues to record and perform and has maintained a devoted following throughout the world.  With his new album “UNTAMABLE” featuring “Girl I Want Your Body”\, Mr. Clayton has once again laid claim to that famed title.  For those who have yet to partake of the Willie Clayton experience\, please do so hurriedly\, because this awesome wonder is just getting started. \nKandy Janai \nThe southern soul award winning diva\, Hailing out of Quincy Florida\, by way of Jackson Mississippi \, known by Kandy Janai the southern soul diva. Ms das my kitty.. Ms roll it and pat it.. new to the Southern soul scene but coming in hard.. she is bad to the bone\, bringing soul mixed with style and sex appeal. His advice to aspiring artists\, “find your audience\, “and “once you find your audience\, just feed them.” That’s how you build your tribe \nWhether he is writing or producing\, J-Wonn often brings a fully-formed idea to the table. He finds real joy in collaborating and has worked with artists like Lenny Williams and Nellie Tiger Travis. He stresses the importance for independent artists to copyright their work before sharing it with the world and he provides a list of key resources to any Indie artist at the beginning of their journeys: \n\nA music publishing account\nA copyright registration\nA Google Adsense account\nFull control of your YouTube channel\n\nLooking ahead\, J-Wonn has a new single dropping– so mark your calendars! SUMMARY:Lunchtime Live with Celia Weiss – Kimball Organ Concert
DESCRIPTION:The Lerner is pleased to welcome an Elkhart favorite\, Celia Weiss\, back on The Lerner’s 1924 Kimball Organ in this free community series. \nCelia Weiss is one of few musical artists who hold the enviable record of having served as a soloist on two different musical instruments. A pianist and organist well known to local audiences\, the artist has appeared on numerous occasions with the Elkhart County Symphony Orchestra\, the South Bend Symphony Orchestra\, the IUSB Philharmonic\, the Manchester University Symphony Orchestra\, and in recitals throughout the area. \nMrs. Weiss is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Music at IUSB for the Raclin School of the Arts where she teaches organ. She is a past recipient of the IUSB Merit Status and Outstanding Alumni Awards. She holds a B.M.E from Manchester College and a M.M. in Piano from Indiana University. An educator as well as a performer\, she has taught music in the Elkhart and Goshen Community Schools and piano at Goshen College. Since 1975 she has held the position of Director of Music and Organist for the First Presbyterian Church in Elkhart. She is a frequent accompanist for the Elkhart County Symphony Orchestra and performs several piano and organ concerts for the Lerner Theatre’s “Lunchtime Live!” each year. \nThe 1924 Kimball pipe organ located in Elkhart\, Indiana’s Lerner Theatre is one of only two Kimball pipe organs currently installed in its original location. The organ was restored following the 2011 renovation of the theatre which opened on Thanksgiving Day\, 1924. After the restoration\, a crew of nearly 20 from Bunn-Minnick Pipe Organs of Columbus\, Ohio\, spent three weeks hoisting equipment and filling the two pipe chambers with more than 1\,000 pipes. The project absorbed nearly 10\,000 man-hours for the crew over a year.

SUMMARY:Elkhart County Symphony - Classics at the Woodland
DESCRIPTION:Get Elkhart County Symphony Tickets\n \n \n \n \n \n \nSeason 78 Begins at the Woodland! \nThe Elkhart County Symphony’s marvelous Season 78 premiere presents works by Mozart and Shostakovich\, and more\, from the tranquil comfort of the new outdoor Woodland Pavilion at Elkhart’s Wellfield Botanic Gardens \n“Classics at the Woodland\,” the Elkhart County Symphony’s 2025-26 season premiere\, presents wondrous orchestral music from the new\, outdoor Woodland Pavilion performance area at Elkhart’s Wellfield Botanic Gardens. On Sept. 7—within the serene\, late-summer splendor of Wellfield\, and now unhindered by any potential for uncooperative weather—the Symphony performs Mozart’s Overture from Marriage of Figaro\, Intermezzo from Cavalleria rusticana (Mascagni)\, L’Arlésienne Suite No. 2 (Bizet/Guiraud)\, and Festive Overture (Shostakovich). \nThe Symphony’s principal horn\, Debra Inglefield\, is featured performing Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 4 in E flat. Ms. Inglefield\, a revered music teacher in our area\, has been teaching French horn at the University of Notre Dame since 1999 and has performed with numerous bands and orchestras\, including the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra and the Elkhart Municipal Band. She is currently the Adjunct Instructor of Horn at Indiana University South Bend\, Andrews University\, and the University of Notre Dame. \nA repertoire fit for a splendid location \nWolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Horn Concerto No. 4 in E flat was completed in 1786. The renowned composer wrote the manuscript for the concerto in red\, green\, blue\, and black ink\, which was thought to be a humorous attempt by Mozart to jostle his longtime friend Joseph Leutgeb—the intended horn player for all four of Mozart’s Horn Concertos. The work is in three movements and is thought to have been first performed sometime in 1786. \nConsidered by most to be one of the greatest operas ever written\, The Marriage of Figaro was composed by Mozart in 1786\, with an Italian libretto written by Lorenzo Da Ponte and based on the 1784 stage comedy by Pierre Beaumarchais\, La folle journée\, ou le Mariage de Figaro (“The Mad Day\, or The Marriage of Figaro”). The opera\, which premiered at the Burgtheater in Vienna on May 1\, 1786\, consistently ranks among the top 10 most performed operas worldwide (Operabase) and is considered foundational to the operatic repertoire. Marriage of Figaro—voted the greatest opera ever written by 172 opera singers in a 2017 BBC poll—is regarded as a masterpiece of operatic comedy. Music from the opera has been popularized through appearances in countless films and television shows. \nDmitri Shostakovich composed Festive Overture in 1954 after a piece was commissioned for the Bolshoi Theatre’s celebration of the 37th anniversary of the October Revolution. The score\, which begins with a brass fanfare later reappears before the work’s coda\, is one of the most beloved and enduring of Shostakovich’s occasional scores. \n\n \n Get Elkhart County Symphony Tickets
