SUMMARY:5th Annual Leroy Robinson Festival: Lakeside and Special Guests
DESCRIPTION:Get Tickets\n \n \n \n \n \n The Leroy Robinson Southern Soul & Soul Music Festival is a powerful celebration of music\, legacy\, and community—created in honor of the late Elkhart legend Leroy Robinson\, whose lifelong commitment to service\, leadership\, and culture left a lasting impact on the region. \nOriginally established following Robinson’s passing in 2022\, the festival was inspired by his deep love of soul music and his vision for bringing people together through meaningful cultural experiences. Today\, the festival continues as an annual tradition celebrating Southern Soul\, classic R&B\, and funk—genres that tell stories of resilience\, joy\, and connection. \nThis year’s festival is headlined by Lakeside\, the legendary funk and R&B group whose iconic hits—including “Fantastic Voyage\,” “It’s All the Way Live\,” and “Raid”—have kept audiences dancing for generations. Joining Lakeside as special guests are Southern Soul favorite T.K. Soul\, known for crowd-pleasing hits such as “Cheating & Lying\,” “Love Games\,” and “One Woman Man\,” and rising star Cecily Wilborn\, whose independently produced single “Southern Man” has garnered millions of streams and earned her growing recognition across the Southern Soul scene. \nTogether\, these acclaimed performers promise an unforgettable evening of soulful melodies\, infectious grooves\, and crowd-pleasing hits—celebrating not only the music\, but the spirit of unity\, culture\, and community that Leroy Robinson championed throughout his life. \n \n \n \n \n \n Lakeside\nFormed in Dayton\, Ohio in 1969\, Lakeside emerged as one of funk and R&B’s most influential and enduring groups. After early development under the guidance of industry veterans including Eddie Thomas and Dick Griffey\, the band signed with Griffey’s SOLAR Records\, where they gained creative freedom to write and co-produce their own music—an opportunity that helped define their distinctive\, groove-driven sound. \nLakeside broke through nationally with their 1978 album Shot of Love\, led by the Top 5 R&B hit “It’s All the Way Live.” Their success reached new heights with the release of Fantastic Voyage (1980)\, featuring the iconic title track that topped the R&B charts\, crossed over to the pop charts\, and went Gold and Platinum. The song remains one of funk music’s most recognizable anthems. \nThroughout the 1980s\, Lakeside continued to deliver chart-topping hits including “Raid\,” “Outrageous\,” and “Bullseye\,” earning a reputation for high-energy performances\, bold visual style\, and timeless dance-floor classics. With a legacy spanning decades\, Lakeside’s music continues to unite generations through infectious rhythms\, soulful melodies\, and unmistakable funk. \n \n \n \n \n \n TK Soul\nT.K. SUMMARY:Elkhart Jazz Festival Presents: St. Paul and the Broken Bones
DESCRIPTION:Get Tickets\n \n \n \n \n \n St. Paul & The Broken Bones are a powerhouse soul ensemble from Alabama. They’ll headline Saturday night at the Lerner Theatre as the Elkhart County Convention and Visitors Bureau presents the 38th annual Elkhart Jazz Festival.\n \n\nKnown for their electrifying live shows and impassioned vocals\, the band formed in Birmingham in 2011. Frontman Paul Janeway fills the room with rich vocals built in the gospel music he heard growing up and informed by the sounds of the Stylistics and Sam Cooke. He stands alongside Jesse Phillips (bass)\, Browan Lollar (guitar)\, Kevin Leon (drums)\, Al Gamble (keyboards)\, Allen Branstetter (trumpet)\, Chad Fisher (trombone)\, and Amari Ansari (saxophone). \nTheir new self-titled sixth album marks a creative renewal – melding the band’s adventurous spirit with a return to soulful\, song-focused roots. Lead single “Sushi and Coca-Cola” went to No. 1 on the Billboard adult alternative chart\, and “Fall Moon” went to No. 3 as the band continues to get extensive airplay on SiriusXM The Spectrum.  \n \n \n Get Tickets\n \n Visit elkhartjazzfestival.com\n \n \n \n \n \n \n	\n \n\n \n \n\n \n \n \n \n\n	\n	\n \n May \n \n 22 \n	\n\n\n	\n \n \n\n \n \n \n Friday\, May 22 @ 8:00 am - Monday\, September 14 @ 5:00 pm	\n	\n \n	\n Elkhart County Symphony 2026-2027 – Season Package	\n\n \n\n \n \n \n	\n\n\n \n\n	\n	\n \n Aug \n \n 26 \n	\n\n\n	\n \n \n\n \n \n \n 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm	\n	\n\n	\n \n\n	Event Series\n	\n	\n	\n\n	\n\n\n \n	\n Art Walk – After Hours: Go 2 Eleven	\n\n \n\n \n \n \n	\n\n\n \n\n	\n	\n \n Aug \n \n 29 \n	\n\n\n	\n \n \n\n \n \n \n 7:00 pm	\n	\n \n	\n Celebration Under the Stars featuring Boyz II Men and The Jacksons	\n\n \n\n \n \n \n	\n\n\n \n\n	\n	\n \n Sep \n \n 13 \n	\n\n\n	\n \n \n\n \n \n \n 4:00 pm	\n	\n \n	\n Elkhart County Symphony – ¡Ritmo Botánico!	\n\n \n\n \n \n \n	\n\n\n \n\n	\n	\n \n Nov \n \n 15 \n	\n\n\n	\n \n \n\n \n \n \n 4:00 pm	\n	\n \n	\n Elkhart County Symphony – Duel Vi2lity	\n\n \n\n \n \n \n	\n\n\n \n\n	\n	\n \n Nov \n \n 21 \n	\n\n\n	\n \n \n\n \n \n \n 6:30 pm	\n	\n \n	\n Sir Charles Jones & Friends: Pour Me a Drank – Southern Soul Tour	\n\n \n\n \n \n \n	\n\n\n \n\n	\n	\n \n Feb \n \n 14 \n	\n\n\n	\n \n \n\n \n \n \n 4:00 pm	\n	\n \n	\n Elkhart County Symphony – Verdi Requiem	\n\n \n\n \n \n \n	\n\n\n \n\n	\n	\n \n Mar \n \n 14 \n	\n\n\n	\n \n \n\n \n \n \n 4:00 pm	\n	\n \n	\n Elkhart County Symphony – Cinematic Symphony	\n\n \n\n \n \n \n	\n\n\n \n\n	\n	\n \n May \n \n 16 \n	\n\n\n	\n \n \n\n \n \n \n 4:00 pm	\n	\n \n	\n Elkhart County Symphony – Planetary Finale	\n\n \n\n \n \n \n	\n\n\n \n\n \n	\n View Calendar	\n\n\n \n	\n\n\n\n \n \n \n \n \n PRESENTED BY THE ELKHART COUNTY CVB

SUMMARY:Elkhart County Symphony - Exhale & Celebrate
DESCRIPTION:Music for Breathing\, Music for Joy \nThe Elkhart County Symphony’s exuberant Season 78 finale\, “Exhale & Celebrate\,” includes inventive works composed by—and featuring—guest soloist Caitlin Edwards and a performance of Rimsky-Korsakov’s Capriccio espagnol by the Symphony \nOn May 17\, 2026\, at The Lerner Theatre in Downtown Elkhart\, the Elkhart County Symphony presents its 2025-26 season finale\, “Exhale & Celebrate.” The Season 78 finale features guest soloist Caitlin Edwards on violin and presents a repertoire including music from the guest soloist’s album Exhale\, as well as the Symphony performing Rimsky-Korsakov’s Capriccio espagnol and additional orchestral works. \nMs. Edwards\, a violinist\, arranger\, recording artist\, and teacher based in Chicago\, began her musical journey at age eight through the Music Opportunity Program in Birmingham\, Alabama. A classically-trained violinist\, Ms. Edwards credits gospel\, jazz\, hip-hop\, and neo-soul as her musical inspirations. She received degrees in Violin Performance from the University of Louisville (B.M.) and DePaul University (M.M.)\, studying with J. Patrick Rafferty and Janet Sung. \nDisrupting the status quo \nCurrently a mentor with the Chicago Musical Pathways Initiative\, a program designed to offer resources to talented Black\, Indigenous\, and People of Color (BIPOC) youth pursuing careers in classical music\, Ms. Edwards’ musical ambition extends beyond herself. Having realized some of her own dreams—including winning numerous orchestral awards and earning the opportunity to perform and record behind artists such as John Legend\, Earth Wind and Fire\, Lauryn Hill\, Stewart Copeland\, Common\, Lucky Daye\, Yolanda Adams\, and India Arie—her ultimate goal is to help educate and inspire the next generation of young Black musicians\, and to see the voices and faces of Black people normalized in traditionally monopolized spaces through increased visibility and disruption of the status quo. \nMs. Edwards is a 2023 Sphinx MPower Artist Grant recipient\, a 2022 Esteemed Artist Award recipient from the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events\, and a 2021 3Arts/Walder Foundation Awardee. She has performed with the Sphinx Symphony Orchestra\, \nNairobi Philharmonic\, Grant Park Festival Orchestra\, Chicago Sinfonietta\, National Repertory Orchestra\, the Chicago Philharmonic\, Oistrakh Symphony of Chicago\, and the ReCollective Orchestra in New York City and Los Angeles\, and was also a recipient of the Rising Star Award from the Gateways Music Festival. In addition\, Ms. Edwards has received Grammy certificates for recordings on Disney’s The Lion King with the Re-Collective Orchestra and for albums by John Legend and PJ Morton. \nHer acclaimed 2021 debut solo album\, Exhale\, fuses the sound of classical music with the soul and harmonies of gospel and neo-soul. The Elkhart County Symphony is honored and pleased to welcome Ms. Edwards and collaborate to perform some of her innovative and inspiring work at “Exhale & Celebrate.” \nFive joyful movements \nCapriccio espagnol is a five-movement orchestral suite\, based on Spanish folk melodies\, composed in 1887 by the Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. It premiered in St. Petersburg in 1887\, conducted by Rimsky-Korsakov\, during an October performance by the Imperial Orchestra.  \nThe composer intended to write the work for a solo violin with orchestra\, but eventually decided that a purely orchestral work would better suit its lively and energetic melodies. Often praised for the strength of its orchestration\, Capriccio espagnol features a large percussion section and many special techniques and articulations—for example\, in the fourth movement\, when the violinists\, violists\, and cellists are directed to imitate guitars.  \nRimsky-Korsakov was considered a master of orchestration and was a member of the group of influential\, nationalistic Russian composers known as The Five. His best-known orchestral compositions—including Capriccio espagnol\, the Russian Easter Overture\, and the symphonic suite Scheherazade—are staples of the classical music repertoire\, and the composer was thought to have influenced an entire generation of younger composers and musicians during his many years as an educator. Rimsky-Korsakov\, therefore\, is largely thought of as the principal architect of what the classical music public considers the “Russian style.” \n\n \n Get Elkhart County Symphony Tickets

SUMMARY:Elkhart County Symphony - ECHOES OF FATE\, PESKIN & TCHAIKOVSKY
DESCRIPTION:A Symphonic Panorama \n“Echoes of Fate\,” March 29\, 2026 at The Lerner Theatre\, presents guest soloist Michail Thompson on trumpet and a challenging\, intriguing\, and expansive range of orchestral experiences \nThe Elkhart County Symphony’s fourth concert of the 2025-26 season\, “Echoes of Fate”—March 29\, 2026 at The Lerner Theatre in Downtown Elkhart—presents an exciting and challenging repertoire and offers a range of memorable orchestral experiences to entertain\, delight\, and intrigue our audience.  \nMichail Thompson\, assistant principal trumpet with the National Symphony Orchestra in Washington\, D.C.\, joins the Elkhart County Symphony as the featured guest soloist for Vladimir Peskin’s Trumpet Concerto No. 1 in C Minor\, and the Symphony welcomes the Concord High School Symphony Orchestra for a side-by-side community collaboration. Additionally\, the Symphony performs Tchaikovsky’s renowned Symphony No. 4 in F minor\, Op. 36. \nTrumpeter Michail Thompson has made orchestral debuts with top ensembles including the London Symphony Orchestra\, San Francisco Symphony\, Opera\, and Ballet\, and joined the National Symphony Orchestra as 2nd Trumpet in 2025. Mr. Thompson—who has spent summers as a fellow at storied institutions such as the Tanglewood Music Festival\, Music Academy of the West\, and the National Orchestral Institute—has performed with the Canadian Brass\, won the Vincent Bach Trumpet Competition\, and been a finalist at the National Trumpet Competition. \nMusical elixir\, inspired by tragedy \nRussian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky wrote his solemn and powerful Symphony No. 4 in F minor\, Op. 36 between 1877 and 1878. The work debuted in February of 1878 at a Russian Musical Society concert in Moscow\, with Nikolai Rubinstein as conductor. The fiery\, vast\, and rapturous symphony was met with early criticism\, most specifically from purists who felt the work did not adequately represent Russian musical values. Despite its early mixed reception\, the symphony grew into an orchestral standard\, and—to this day—remains one of the most frequently performed symphonies of the late 19th century. \nTchaikovsky’s personal and professional life was said to be marred by crises and depression. His separation from his mother at a young age for boarding school\, followed by her early death\, and the untimely deaths of family members and friends—including his dear colleague\, the aforementioned Rubinstein—all were contributors. Although celebrated in his lifetime\, Tchaikovsky felt neither beloved nor respected by critics and musical peers. During his life\, the composer—who kept his homosexuality private—endured a failed marriage to Antonina Miliukova\, a failed suicide attempt\, and the gutting collapse of his 13-year association with wealthy patroness Nadezhda von Meck.  \nSimilarly\, Vladimir Peskin’s musical compositions seem born of chaos and tumult. Little is known about Peskin’s life. What is known is that he lived in Geneva from 1914 to 1916 and received music lessons at the Académie de Musique de Genève after his father\, like many other Russian revolutionaries\, was exiled to Switzerland by the Stalin regime. The son of refugees\, Peskin would have to give up his early piano studies due to a hand disability caused by overuse\, at which point he turned primarily to composition. \nExperts suggest Anton Rubinstein as Peskin’s central role model\, and his teacher\, Samuil Feinberg—along with composer Sergei Rachmaninoff—are credited as influences in his well-known works. Peskin’s Trumpet Concerto No. 1 in C Minor has stood the test of time and is considered one of the most enduring trumpet concertos ever composed. \n\n \n Get Elkhart County Symphony Tickets

The best music will be performed by the Hollywood Film Orchestra in an impressive show with light installations\, laser projections\, and selected film clips. Star soloists from the Original Broadway Production will perform excerpts from “The Lion King”\, Zimmer’s most beloved box office smash hit. \nNo other composer has influenced the film world in the past two decades as much as the Oscar-\, Globe- and Emmy-winning composer Hans Zimmer with his staggering compositions for films such as “James Bond”\, “The Lion King”\, “Pirates of the Caribbean”\, “Gladiator”\, “The Dark Knight”\, “Man of Steel”\, “Inception”\, and “Interstellar”. \nHans Zimmer wrote the film scores of more than 200 movies\, won his second Oscar for “Dune” (2022)\, following his first Academy Award for “The Lion King” (1994). He named Ennio Morricone as his idol and role-model\, whose work will be featured with excerpts from the films “The Good\, the Bad and the Ugly” and “Once Upon a Time in the West”. Zimmer followed Morricone’s example of composing the film music often before – instead of after – filming\, and shaped the entire film. He changed the beginning of Ridley Scott’s “Gladiator” for example\, and the world-famous director moved into the studio of Hans Zimmer. \nThe press has been giving enthusiastic response:“…What a successful event and ecstatic audience…”“…Fascinating how the spark jumped over at this concert…”“…Very impressive were the titles with large orchestra …” \nTHE HOLLYWOOD FILM ORCHESTRAThe Hollywood Film Orchestra has been created for this concert series and works usually with state Orchestras from Europe. SUMMARY:Elkhart County Symphony - Northern Expressions
DESCRIPTION:Goshen College Comes Alive with “Northern Expressions” \nOur annual concert at Sauder Concert Hall at the Goshen College Music Center features acclaimed guest soloist Aleck Belcher on bass and presents a challenging and dynamic orchestral repertoire\, including Koussevitzky’s Double Bass Concerto \n“Northern Expressions\,” Feb. 15\, 2026 on the campus of Goshen College\, marks the Elkhart County Symphony’s annual concert at Sauder Concert Hall at the Goshen College Music Center\, and—featuring guest soloist Aleck Belcher on bass—presents performances of Koussevitzky’s Double Bass Concerto\, Symphony No. 2 in D major\, Op. 43 (Sibelius)\, and additional works to be determined. \nOriginally from Carmel\, Indiana\, Mr. Belcher is the principal bassist of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra\, which he joined at the age of 19\, and has also performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra\, the Philadelphia Orchestra\, and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. At age 11\, Mr. Belcher began bass lessons\, and at the age of 16\, he enrolled at Indiana University under full scholarship to study with Kurt Muroki. After graduating from IU and joining the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra\, Mr. Belcher was appointed Associate Principal Bass by music director Stéphane Denève in the fall of 2019. Between his freshman and junior years of high school\, Mr. Belcher was a student of our Conn-Selmer Endowed Musical Director\, Dr. Soo Han! \nA dynamic\, challenging\, and inspiring orchestral repertoire! \nThe Symphony No. 2 in D major\, Op. 43\, is an expansive and powerful four-movement work for orchestra written between 1901 and 1902 by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius. Sibelius began writing the symphony in Rapallo\, Italy\, after the well-received premiere of his acclaimed symphonic poem\, Finlandia. Critics were divided following the symphony’s March 1902 premiere—performed by the Helsinki Orchestral Society\, with Sibelius conducting—but the public expressed overall admiration for the piece\, written during a period marked by Russian sanctions on Finnish language and culture. \nPenned the Symphony of Independence\, the vast and romantic Symphony No. 2 in D major\, Op. 43 was thought by many to represent the struggle for Finland’s independence. While some claim Sibelius did not directly intend any specific patriotic message\, others largely identified the work as a nationalist composition written with an independent Finland in mind. \nDouble Bass Concerto is a three-movement work composed by Serge Koussevitzky in 1902. Koussevitzky wrote this popular piece at a time of slim repertoire for the double bass\, as it was at that time considered to be an ensemble-only instrument. The concerto\, which the composer debuted in February 1905 with the Moscow Symphony Orchestra\, presents an array of technical challenges on the double bass\, including triplet and sixteenth passages with ambiguous\, cryptic bowings and double stops. \nPerhaps most widely known for his long tenure as music director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra\, Koussevitzky’s 1924 appointment as conductor of the BSO led to a golden era for the ensemble that continued until his tenure ended in 1949. The composer played a leading role in developing the BSO’s renowned summer concert and educational programs at Tanglewood\, where the 5\,700-seat main performance venue still bears his name. Koussevitzky’s students and protégés included the likes of Leonard Bernstein\, Eleazar de Carvalho\, Samuel Adler\, and Sarah Caldwell. Bernstein\, in fact\, once received a pair of cufflinks from Koussevitzky as a gift\, and it is said that he wore them at every concert he conducted. \n\nIndividual tickets for Elkhart County Symphony – Northern Expressions will be sold through the Goshen College Box Office starting on January 5th\, 2026. All other Elkhart County Symphony tickets will be sold through The Lerner Theatre Box Office and Ticketmaster.com.  \n \n Get Elkhart County Symphony Tickets

SUMMARY:Hometown Jams: Lee Brice (Acoustic)
DESCRIPTION:Get Tickets\n \n \n \n \n \n \nWith three consecutive No. 1 singles in 2012\, Lee Brice quickly moved beyond the label of country’s “next big thing.” His second album\, Hard 2 Love\, proved anything but difficult to embrace\, delivering crowd-pleasing hits like “Parking Lot Party” and “A Woman Like You\,” and securing a No. 2 debut on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart. \nA South Carolina native\, Brice embodies a classic all-American path. Before rising to fame\, he sang in his family’s church\, earned a football scholarship to college\, and wrote songs for icons such as Garth Brooks and Tim McGraw. The title track from his 2010 debut\, Love Like Crazy\, set a record for the longest run on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. \nDuring his 2013 Otherside Tour\, Brice won over audiences nationwide with his easygoing charm and heartfelt\, personal performances. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n With Special Guest: Lewis Brice\n A seasoned singer/songwriter whose sonic palette is colored by his love for country\, Southern rock and R&B\, Brice currently finds his music evolving as his rowdy single guy days give way to the joys of marriage and new fatherhood. With the enthusiastic response to such new songs as “She Loves My Country” and “NASCAR Fast\,” it is readily apparent his audience loves being along for the ride. Authenticity is more than a catch phrase thrown around in Music Row conference rooms\, it’s a potent quality that separates true artists from talented hopefuls. Authenticity is the foundation of everything Lewis Brice does. It’s as much as part of his artistry as his riveting on stage swagger and the heart and soul he pours into every breath of his songwriting.
