Lerner on the Lawn with Rhymer/Educator
Thursday, August 25 @ 6:00 pmFree
R/E (Rhymer/Educator) is a Chicagoland R&B/Hip-Hop artist and high school teacher who uses music as a platform for fun, love, and conversation. In 2018, R/E released his debut LP, The Rhymer/Educator Project. The success of the album landed R/E support slots with Vanilla Ice, MAX, and Pitbull. The album featured alternative R&B artist theMIND, whose resume includes work with Noname, Chance the Rapper, Saba, and Mick Jenkins, as well as reputable New York-based MC, Nitty Scott. The track Meant for More with WittiestMC was featured on New Music Friday, a playlist on Spotify. R/E then released two subsequent EP’s, Extra Credit and Natural Writes (with WittiestMC as co-artist), which were released in 2018 and 2019 respectively. Most recently, R/E took a turn from his hip-hop roots to pursue other genres of interest. Inspired by artists like Childish Gambino, Sade, and Prince, R/E released r/Evolution, an entirely R&B album in August of 2021. Along with his 8-piece live band, R/E is excited to light up the Artwalk stage with his family friendly brand of hip-hop and R&B this August!
