The Grand Shanghai Circus

Grand Shanghai Circus featuring Changchun Acrobatic Troupe, have been entertaining audiences of all ages for over thirty years in the United States including two six-week Broadway engagements. Recognized as being among the best acrobatic shows that introduces young people to the magic of theatre, these acrobats were awarded Best Variety Show in Branson, MO, due to their continual demonstration of the highest caliber of professional, trained athletes, jugglers and contortionists. Their acts often trace their origins to traditional harvest festivals down through the centuries. It is no wonder The New York Times reported, “Shanghai Circus featuring Changchun Acrobatic Troupe is providing entertainment in abundance!” Each entertainer presents a range of demanding performances, most of them typifying the Chinese Circus and consisting of a refreshing alternative to the usual Western traditions.
From the dangerous climbing chair stack high above the audience, about which the New York Times said, “these acrobats provide feats of circus art that reach breathtaking heights of skill.” And just when you think you have seen it all, the highly skilled hoop-diving acrobats take the stage with gravity defying feats of strength and balance. All these and more surprises complete a marvelous and totally exciting entertainment event for theatre going “youngsters” from nine to ninety-two…As CBS News once reported, “FANTASTIC!”

Guests of the event are invited to come early and enhance their The Grand Shanghai Circus experience with a special Valentine’s Day selection of cocktails and live music in the Cittadine Club, located at The Lerner Theatre starting at 5:30pm.

Patron bags exceeding 14 inches by 14 inches by 6 inches (14” x 14” x 6″) are not permitted inside The Lerner. The term “bags” includes, without limitation, backpacks, briefcases, luggage, duffel bags, musical instrument cases, purses, boxes, packages and carry-alls.
All bags are subject to search at the discretion of management and/or security personnel. Exceptions are made for bags used to carry medical equipment and diaper bags for customers with small children.
Guests with prohibited items will be turned away from the entrances to return items to their vehicles or to dispose of them.
No storage or “check in area” will be provided for prohibited items. Lerner management reserves the right to deny any item it deems to be a safety hazard.
