Event banner for Oaklawn's Got Talent 2024

Oaklawn is excited to bring back Oaklawn’s Got Talent for its third year! Join us for a fun evening featuring amazing local acts that will benefit mental health and addiction treatment – all while embracing how strong community and healthy self-expression support mental wellness.

Our judges auditioned nearly 30 local acts and picked the top four. Now, it’s up to our audience to decide who wins! Each attendee will get one vote, and at the conclusion of all our performances, the audience will have a chance to rank each contestant and determine who takes home a grand prize of $5,000!

Finalists are:

Hart Health, musical improv comedy: This troupe is made up of Julie Cotton, Elkhart-based improv maven; Dave Asher, Chicago-based musical director, and Carlos Rivera, Chicago-based musical improviser. These veteran improvisers have been playing for decades collectively. Their mission is to use musical improv to brighten the lives of those who face mental health struggles of all kinds, believing laughter truly is the best medicine.

Quite Frank Lee, band featuring original music: Quite Frank Lee is an original duet with a three-piece band that started in 2021. The group features Anna Naragon (vocals), Scott Vaerewyck (vocals/guitar), Rob Booker (bass), Kyle Paulk (lead guitar) and Tony Leininger (drums/percussion). Their sound is a blend of folk, country and Americana – showcasing the striking harmonies of Scott and Anna, especially through Scott’s original songs about love and love lost and everything in between.

Olivia Kruyer, dancer: At only 12 years old, Olivia Kruyer has already received top awards at regional and national competitions with the Legacy Dance Company, a team of competitive dancers. She began dancing in 2020 and participates in several styles, including lyrical, jazz, ballet, poms and contemporary. At Oaklawn’s Got Talent, she’ll feature contemporary and lyrical styles through dances that reflect passion, emotion and storytelling.

Marriani Fleming, singer/songwriter: Marriani was born and raised in South Bend and has been singing her whole life. She was recently on season 21 of “American Idol,” where she landed a spot in Hollywood week. Marriani’s dream is to make music her full-time career. Her original music features a raw honesty that’s not only therapeutic for her personally, but also invites audiences to connect on a deep and meaningful level.
